I recently had some friends from Colorado come to my land to hog hunt. It was their first time hog hunting and they sneered pretty heavily when I pulled out an ar 10 and 2-30 round mags as they got their fancy magnum cartridge custom bolt guns out of their hard cases . I explained it wasn't really just hunting, yeah I hunt and love the meat but as a land owner it's more like war.
I don't think they really understood and wouldn't shut up about how hunting was supposed to be majestic and stuff. How do ya'll feel about feral hog hunting. Clean 'em out, or take just what you need? As a land owner I know my answer... mow 'em down!

My personal feeling is to whack all those smelly, nasty, ugly. destructive creatures, but I only take one each time I go out hunting.

I think it is rude when people from elsewhere show up and complain that things are not as they think they should be.
If they want to hunt majestic hogs, send them to Bosnia or Hungary where such hunting has a post hunt ritual for both the hunters and the hogs.
Maybe you should have explained more about the concept of pest eradication?

If they don't like it, send them packing and call me. I'd be happy to empty my mag into a sounder.

If you think it is wrong to kill as many hogs as possible then you are ruh tarted or a Yankee. Kill em all. Not like there won't be more. I so see if those calirodans only kill a few of the mice they get in their house.....

Show them what 30 round mags are used for, blast away at a sounder and kill them all if possible. If they want to hunt something majestic let them stay in Colorado and hunt elk with their magnums.

Because of ignorance, bias, ect most folks from Colorado expect to have Majestic Views of Elk, and Deer Herds, mountain tops ect. They don't realize that Wild Feral Hogs, and Fireants are pests and that the hogs are many times unedible..at least for me..I only use the pigs and choates and young sows..don't care for the smell of the boars and older hogs...I've seen 30 to 60 hogs or more on Culebra Rd outside 1604 from San Antonio..now it's mostly housing sub divisions..they overhaul the farmers crops here..DD

Maybe they were just in awe of your 30 rd. magazines as it seems their elected officials in CO. are trying to eradicate those types of magazines, much like you are trying to eradicate your pigs. Screw 'em is what I'm really trying to say.
You should have told them to correct the problems in THEIR state before criticizing other states ways..

They can have CO and it's soon to be Magpul less, 10 round AWB state.
Also people are often scared of things they know nothing about.
Do you ever notice who the most vile, and hate projecting people are on the internet? To me it seems like the anti-gun groups. They sneer and laugh, poke fun at , and call names. Dance in the blood of dead children.
I know it seems like i'm going off topic, but really that kind of mind set "Oh that's not hunting" ( not by you OP, by the outsiders) Is what gets laws passed.
" Hunting w/ a semi auto is not hunting" "It should only take one shot" "give the game a chance" "hunting from a stand is not really hunting"
The last state that made hunting with suppressors legal. It almost failed under the argument that.... The game needs a chance, and won't have one if they can't hear the gun shot... My forehead still has a mark on it from my palm hitting it.
BTW I agree, it's war on these pigs. I'm just a city dweller, but I have friends and family all over. I do my part to take them out when I can!

Killing hogs by any means possible is not a morality issue.
(Send them some helicopter hunt vids to show them how it's really done...)
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I explained it wasn't really just hunting, yeah I hunt and love the meat but as a land owner it's more like war. You should have followed that up by pulling a grenade out of your pocket. I bet the looks on their faces would have been priceless!
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

We eat ours, even the big boars. I hear people say, "You can't eat those old boars", I have, and they taste just as good as the smaller pigs.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Just a statement. Hogs are bad, i agree with everyone, but that doesn't give me reason to waste what someone else could be using. We trap over 200 hundred hogs from september to may each year. Most get sold to processors and we take what we can use. I let people hog hunt for free on my place as long as they bring a cooler and intend to clean and take it with them. If its just to kill then no need to come. I'll show them how to clean them if needed and even cook it if time allows. To each his own and if there were none left it wouldn't hurt me a bit. I just don't want to waste what I don't have to.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

How about heading a cattle truck caravan of say...about 20 truckloads of feral pigs....and have them offload at Pike's Peak. Then see what the good folks from Colorado have to say about their staste getting overrun by those vermin.
Of course, they won't be concerned at all till those little piggies start tearing up their Mary Jane farms!

Highly invasive species, that threatens the safety of domestic production.
Morality? Thats an individual thought process, no one should form an opinion about what ones man morality is when it comes to an invasive species.
When there are laws about holding and or releasing and or transporting them, you have to wonder if morality should be even a thought process on the subject of the feral swine epidemic
