What do y'all recommend for shooting hogs at night? I have a lighted fiber optic sight but I am thinking I need a laser because the bright pins tend to wash out the target.

You need to dim down your pin light, and get a stabilizer mounted light.

I put a small piece of electrical tape on the end of my pin light, it blocked a little more than half the light coming out of it. No more washing out the pins. Now I have the Spot Hogg rheostat light, on low setting it is perfect for night hunts.

To light up the pigs, I use an Elusive Wildlife XLR-100 in green. I use the low power setting most of the time. It screws into the stabilizer hole in the riser, and the switch sticks with a piece of Velcro near the grip.


There have been a few folks fiddle with a bow mounted laser for pig hunting, but I have not yet run across a commercially available one just yet.

A laser is highly illegal in Texas for any game animal, keep that in mind.
I also use this light on my AR. Works out pretty darn good.

can you see thru your peep? I painted mine with glow in the dark paint but havent had the best results plus it doesnt stay "charged" for very long

A pistol; I've tried everything under the sun for night bow hunting... I'll stick with my 40 side arm.

Thin sight pins work good too. I use my truglo with lit sights and a G3 bow lite and it works well.

I don't have a problem with my peep. It is just "right there" when I draw back and come to anchor.

Plenty of folks will go to a larger peep, String Splitter peep, a "No Peep" or just a kisser button for night shooting. There are a lot of creative options.
