I was at Bass Pro and talked to one of the guys who works on the bows. I am a newby and wanted to check out some of the compound bows. I shot one of their Diamond Archery bows, I believe it was the "Outlaw" and was surprised at how well it shot. I would like some opinions before I shell out a bunch of money on a new compound bow about your experiences, especially if its the Diamond Archery brand. Thanks.

I had a Diamond Outlaw and I really liked it. I would still have it if I hadn't gotten a good deal on a Mathews Z7. The only issue I had with it was the string stop and cable guard vibrating loose occasionally. As long as you keep an eye on those things they are good bows IMO.

It's a great bow. I just don't EVER deal with Bass Pro or Cabelas (or other chain stores). Only suggestion I can give you is see if you can find a local authorized dealer most independent shops are more knowledgeable and will give you that one on one that the majors stores can't do and they are more apt to give you breaks on peripherals . Diamond line is a great company.

Been shooting a Dimond Black Ice for around 6 yrs now....love it... Dimond/bowtech is hard to beat these days

I have a Diamond Dead Eye and it is my favorite bow I have ever owned. I have had PSE, Bear and Hoyt. Diamond is the same company as Bowtech and share many components. The parent company is Savage Firearms. Their R.A.K. (ready aim kill packages) come pretuned as long as the draw weight and poundage are what you like. I would not hesitate to buy one from a chain store if it didnt need weight or draw adjustment.

i have the outlaw, its fast, it hits hard, and ive never had any troubles with it....if you do get one think about buying a drop away rest, i replaced my octane rest with the apache by NAP couldn't be happier...shot two pigs with one arrow last month.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to get one soon. I figure if I get it now and practice a bit on 3D targets and then wild hogs I will be ready for Deer Bow Season.

Modern compounds are simple to pick up and shoot. As long as you get a forgiving bow there should be no problem becoming efficient with it after a few solid days of practice. I would not suggest getting a super high speed bow with a short brace height. Those bows gain their speed at the expense of needing perfect form. My Dead Eye has a brace height of under 7" and it can be a little twitchy and needs good manners. I have been shooting bows for 15 years and knew what I was getting into and have no complaints.
