Pointer on this forum has two, but he's in south Texas.

I have had an English Cocker for flushing and retrieving for 5 years now. It took a while for the pointers to learn that Peanut(cocker's name) could flush the birds while they had to stand there on point. My pointers are now sloppy on retrieving because Peanut thinks its her job to do all the retrieving, she will take the birds out of the pointers mouth. Peanut is my wifes dog in the house and acts like I do not exist, In the chair and sleeps on my wifes side of the bed, but when we get out hunting it turns completely around, she does not even know my wife exists. I pm ed my phone number to you if you have any other questions.

Brent Wilbur of Southern Hills Kennel (I believe website is southernhillskennel.net) has a new litter on the ground. Also, Buck Grabowski of Big Cocker Kennel (also has a website:bigcockerkennels.com) and Heart of Texas Cocker club may can offer help in what you are looking for. Also, Comanche Kennels of Teague has a litter currently. Give 'em a try, I'll bet you can find one you like. Let us know how you come out!

One thing not mentioned here is that Cockers are very good Pets in households w/adults..but not always with small children..My Dad's buddy and fellow Gulf Oil Emp. in Liberty Jack Thomas raised them and they were really great dogs in the 50's ..he used
them on Geese in the fields toward Anuahac..but the first time I
was bitten was by a young pup he'd given me..and it snapped me in
the face..I was about 8...His dogs were fine w/him and his wife as both of them were in their late 60's then..DD

I hunted behind my first English Cocker back in January at Joshua Creek. We harvested ALOT of birds and the EC flushed and retrieved 90% of them. Dog belonged to the guide. Dangdest thing I have ever seen. And they will even back a pointed dog. I was more than impressed. I am looking for one also.

I hunted behind Cockerfan's english cockers for quail at matadoor and in Kansas for pheasant, quail, and prairie chickens. He isn't in Texas anymore, but he has a bunch of them and knows them well.
