, I'm tearing my hair out trying to decide if i should get another pup. I've had two labs in my past and I'm dog-less now. I live alone and I'm not sure I can do it cause I still work everyday, I get up early and get home about 3-4pm.

Not sure about how to house break her without being there. I'm worried about the cost, spay, food, vet, grooming, , illneses, what do do if I'm going out of town, all you dog owners know what I'm talking about...it's like have a kid

On the other hand, I need a companion, I'm 62 tomorrow, I absoloutly love dogs, labs in particular. In my past do life, I ran all the hunt test and had a blast.

What do ya'll think???

I know some will say go for it some will say, don't, if there is ANY doubt.

I value all your opinions here at "The Fire"

Thanks

Get a little older dog does not have to be a youg pup. Get one that needs a companion and a good home there are low cost spay newter clinics and dry food 50 lbs 40 bucks last you a little while.

My 2 cents

Buzzsaw,

I will sometimes work from home, and when I'm here, my dog sleeps the whole day. She is used to the routine of get up in the morning, nap all day, and play with the family in the afternoon.

For the most part we used puppy pads and a wire fence around her kennel. She never messed in her kennel and we made sure we got her outside when we got home. Only think she got a few accidents, but learned quickly outside was were she could do her business.

How often do you go out of town?

We're pretty lucky that my Mom and MIL both like her. When we go visit, she's a welcomed guests. But if we got to the beach or some place she can't travel to, we'll send her to our Vet's kennel. Essentially when we plan a trip where she isn't coming, the kennel stay is included in the budget for the trip.

And like someone said, you can always give another dog a home. That 1 year old lab may just be the dog you're looking for.
