I had a couple of friends in from Nebraska at the ranch this weekend to hog hunt and I was pleased to see quite a few turkeys and the tom's were gobbling like crazy and strutting all over the place. Spring is almost magical when these birds start their mating ritual. Ya gotta love turkey time.

Where in Stephens County are you? I have a lease in Breckenridge and am hoping that we see and hear some Gobblers this coming weekend(scouting)--we are 6 miles South of Breckenridge and then West about 5 miles.

We are also in Stephens County. Haven't seen turkey in years but we sure did this week! Saw plenty and heard them gobbling all around camp. We drove up on 4 hens and it didn't scare them off. We rolled down the window and they stopped to check us out. Had fun gobbling back and forth with them

Are you hearing any gobblers or just seeing hens in Stephens County?
Thanks.

BC, I think I told you, they were gobbling at my place in Young county way back in Dec./Jan. so I'm guessing nothing has changed..

I am about 15 miles south of Breckenridge on 183, just north of the Eastland/Stephens County Line. I saw quite a few gobblers strutting and heard them all over the ranch at daylight while we were hog hunting. More birds than I have seen or heard in a few years, especially since the fire went thru.

[quote=bcoglegolf]Are you hearing any gobblers or just seeing hens in Stephens County? Here is a pic. Sorry for a bad shot but we drove past this lane and saw them, we backed up and they were still there so I grabbed camera, didn't take time to zoom in or focus well. There are 4 turkeys, we made a gobble sound and they gobbled back, there may have been more around that corner. We drove on to camp and listened to many more gobbling all around our camp. Pretty exciting! Hope to go back this weekend to hog hunt, if we do I will be on the lookout for turkeys and try to get you more pics and info. Stay tuned. Haa haa

A fw here in Stephens County. Walked up on 2 turkeys at 4pm and crossed another set at 7pm at opposite end of land. Yeah!! So happy to see turkeys after so long
