All 4 of my Mouflon lambs are gone. I don't know if it is predators or what. They have been eating the feed that I feed the deer for a month or so. It has too much copper for sheep. I wonder if that could be what has gotten to the lambs? It has not affected the older ones. Anyone know if the excess copper is harder on lambs than older sheep and do they just die without showing any signs of being sick?

Have you found the lambs? Have they been ate on? Have you wormed the momas? Were you feeding them to much? I fed my dall sheep deer feed that was loaded with copper for 10+ years with no adverse reaction, so i doubt it was that. If they are not ate on and they have not ate to much, then my bet is on worms. You can do a fecal sample and tell. If you cant find them then the area hunters got a good snack. Good luck.

Sorry to hear, really takes the fun out of it. Like a sucker-punch in the gizzard.

I know sheep are touchy with copper in their feed.

Sorry to hear that Don. Bitterweed? If your lambs are gone, you may have an eagle or two in the area.

If they are gone then you've got an owl or some other predator taking them. I usually feed a medicated lamb and kid pellet but will switch to the deer pellet for 1/2 the year. Have not had any issues with copper in blocks, tubs or feed. Hope you figure out what's getting your lambs soon.

I don't think the sheep are wormy. The momas look good and have good bags. I have looked for coyote sign and haven't seen any. I think they were too big for cara-caras to get. Have not found any carcaus. No other small animals right now so can't tell if other types are going missing. I believe it is predators. I have a fairly large hill where they spend the night and I am going to have to check it out more closely.

We use to see Golden Eagles eating on sheep carcas on a lease we had in Menard. Sounds like predators for sure.

I don't believe it is the winged type. I also have ways of dealing with them and 4 legged ones. Thanks.
