Mumme's is selling a feed called pro-max,a mix of corn and peas, which sells for $10.50/sack. They sell straight peas for $11.75/sack. Since corn is $9.90/sack, I figure the pro-max is worth the extra bang for the buck, at 14% protein, its alot healthier for the wildlife.

My expieriment for this year, since corn is so high, is to try and wean the deer off corn completely and either feed the promax or get them on straight pea.

I've been looking for a corn/soybean mix but have been unable to find it.

Over-all goal, is to create a healthier herd at not alot more cost per acre.

Bryant Grains and Martindale both make a corn/roasted soy mix. Get your local feed store to order you some.

Everytime I get a price on corn/soy mix it has seemed to be high....more than some proteins. I know Dillards in Weatherford carries the Martindale version and I think the Russell Feed Store chain carries it...

Last corn I bought at the end of season was $11 a bag and Soybean/corn was $14 a bag. If you can get split peas, the may be a lil cheaper

I get it from Johnson feed co in Lewisville. The mix was $14 or so during the season. I'm feeding %100 roasted soy in my gravity feeder right now and it is expensive -- I think I paid around $18 per bag -- but the deer on my place love it.

$18/bag is way too much.

I can plant and irrigate for less than that

I'm using a corn/soy bean mix I get from Collin County Feed Store in McKinney. $10.75 for 50#. The deer on my place love it. Checked my cameras this weekend. In a month and half I had over 2000 pics on 2 cameras.

What color are the soybeans? They kinda look like a black eyed pea?

I can usually get all the Milo and Soybean I want for free (well within reason, enough to feed 1 feeder year round).

I mix 4 bags corn, 1 bag of milo, 1 bag of soybean. For a year the only thing you'd see under my stand was the soybeans. They never seemed to eat it. About 3 months after the last bit of soybeans was thrown out the feeder you could still pick them off the ground. Even the hogs that came out would leave the soybeans behind.
