Here is a few decoys I hope to have finished soon. It's pretty boring around here when I can't kill ducks.

I like your style coot hammer. I like your user name too. I've made coot dekes before. You're not a hard hittin duck man if you haven't made any coot decoys. Is that a one hitter on the desk?

Nope it's just a paint pen, my job wouldn't allow me to dabble with one of those!

No it's just blue foam board glued together, I used a dremel tool to carve them.

Oh, I mistook the sandwich board for a seam at first glance. I make decoys too. Those look good!

If you got any pics I would love to see them. I try to make a couple new ones each season. I don't always hunt them but they hit the water a few hunts each season.

I didn't realize you were carving those yourself, very nice!

Yeah, I'm by no means good at it but I enjoy it. If any of y'all are in the North Houston (Porter) area and want to get together to carve let me know. None of my buddy's have time for arts and crafts, so they say! Here are a few more that I've completed. The woody is due for a repaint.

Hey Dave Speer I remembered having a conversation with you a while back and went and looked at the pics you posted of your deeks. Once again very nice work!

Man, all these guys here have already seen my stuff but what the heck here are some repeats,

some decoys "loaded up to go hunting"

(actually whisky toppers for a couple good friends)

Limit shot of the only two decoys I used this day:

One of my favorite pictures that includes a couple decoys from my gadwall rig (Cody's fourth day of being a duck hound) :

And a buoy bufflehead

I take it you use an air brush? What brand paint do you use? I have trouble with my paint not holding up.

When I airbrush, I use Rustoleum oil based paint over flocking by straining it through a paint filter and mixing 20-50 percent mineral spirits into it to get the right airbrush consistency. It only comes in three flat colors (white, black, brown) and the rest of the colors are gloss so I mix all my colors with the three flat colors and/or their gloss red, yellow, and blue. The gloss paint would look terrible (too shiny) on a regular surface but on flocking it does not shine.

Even when strained and diluted, white, or mixes with a lot of white tend to build up on my needle so I keep a toothbrush dipped in mineral spirits on my paint brush and often take a quick break, brushing the needle and nozzle, kick straight air (no paint) through the brush, hit a piece of cardboard to make sure I'm not throwing thin splatter and go right back to painting. It only takes about 5 seconds to do this and get back to work.

I appreciate the info, I have a cheap Hobby Lobby airbrush that I messed with a little bit, but I haven't been able to get it working properly.
