I disagree. If you use an outfitter for your Colorado hunting, you will do immeasurable damage to his ability to earn a living, while you'll be hardly damaging the tourist industry at all. Now, for DIY hunts, skiing, camping, etc, boycott away.

I just mailed off my annual applications for Colorado draw hunts: sheep, goat, moose, deer, elk, and antelope. If I get drawn, I will happily employ a Colorado outfitter.

Sometimes the knee-jerk response can benefit from carefull further thinking, instead of going off half cocked.

dawaba I guided the weminuche and sw colorado area for a lot of years, it is one of the major tourism draws to the state.
by letting outfitters know your not going to hunt a state that wants to deny the 2nd will put across a huge message. do not think for a second that the outfitters are not organized and have access to the legislature, they have a huge lobby there.
there are much more 2nd amendment friendly states that also have good elk pops.
just south in new mexico between chama and farmington is one, the apache res has a huge elk pop.

I DO apply in NM for elk, in the Gila country. I also apply for sheep and ibex as well. A few years back, I was drawn for oryx, so I can't do that anymore.

I also make annual applications to Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona, about 30 applications every year. And when I do get drawn, I find an outfitter because these tags are so precious.

Since I have maximum points for every species in Colorado, I'm disinclined to stop applying just because the doofuses in the state legislature have lost their minds. And if I get drawn in Colorado, I will employ the services of an experienced outfitter.

We are in agreement that I will no longer go skiing there, nor rafting or camping or vacationing. But it's not the rural folks' fault that the reps from Denver and Boulder are so short-sighted.

I agree with you dawaba. By not hunting in Colorado, you have let the liberals get rid of you very easily and give them exactly what they want.

@hopalong, if the outfitters do have a large lobbying presence, the only way they can use it is with MONEY. If you boycott them, where is the money going to come from?

These are people just like you and me that are against this legislation. Turning your back on them is very short sighted.
