Personally, I have no problem with the policy IF they stick to the present criteriae. Felons, people under restraining orders, and the mentally unstable cannot--and should not--currently own firearms.

Now....if they expand the gun grab to over-reach the current law, then we should get nervous.

I agree with you. Further more, who sets the standards for normalcy? An anti gun liberal doc from Stanford or Harvard?
What this will do is keep veterans coming home from war AWAY from seeking help with PTSD or ANY OTHER emotional problem for fear of being deemed unfit to have his 2nd amend rights.
Amazing how they apply this to certain rights but not others...so its ok for crazy ppl to vote? oh wait...never mind they all did this past election.

The article starts out (leaves out ALOT of details) with the house they are raiding the homeowner just got out of a mental health stay. Was it involuntary? Did his kid just die? He only spent 2 days. If he were a danger to himself or others they would have held him for 72 hrs of observation. Can he get off that list or did his stay even if voluntary destroy his rights forever? Not that California is a huge gun advocate sate and cares.

If he goes to another shrink and found to be compentent will his guns still be with this agency or will they have already taken a chop saw to them?

Most likely he will never see them again. This stuff is crazy! I cannot believe that this is what "gun control" has come to. Makes you want to buy everything from private parties.

The person was female. She had one weapon registered in her name. 2 were registered in her husband's name. All 3 weapons were confiscated because the law states that the individual must not have access to weapons.

So, just what are the authorities to do here? We all compain about people with mental issues going off and kiling a bunch of people. We say that is the problem, not the guns themselves (and I agree). But then when a gubment (and I have zero love for Cali) starts enforcing laws that speak specifically to this, everyone gets all up in arms calling it confiscation. In fact, it is confiscation. They are taking guns away from people who aren't legally qualified to own one.

If the residents of Cali don't like the laws they can move to another state.

According to the article, they also took guns away from the innocent bystander..

They are going to have to bring their own fuel. My cows finished off the grass last year and are working on the trees this year.

They may have to just stone you since there is a burn ban in effect.

Now that would make it simpler. Since I live in Callahan County, all they would have to do is go out in the road and get the rocks.

That is a great point but I don't think anyone here wants the criminaly insane armed. I think people are concerned at where excactly the line is drawn on a very subjective subject.

I used to be a LEO years ago. You can't own a gun in TX if you have ever been convicted of Family Violence violation. I saw a guy get arrested for Family Violence assault by contact for taking the car keys out of his 17 YO high school daughters hand as she was storming out on a school night. No way he should have gone to jail but the arresting officer was new and technically that is the law. The lines do get blurry.

As far as if you don't like Cali move, you talk as though TX could never turn back into a blue state with 22 million new voters comming (Amnesty) many of which live in TX. We get a new Govenor and in 4 years all bets are off and TX becomes a gun control state and I am no fan of Perry but better than the alternative.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that most of you think your Democrats but if you took a test you would find out your not.
