When do you guys start pulling boards out of your water control structures? I'm trying to promote the growth of moist soil plants in my ponds.

Now is a good time if you haven't already. No need to hold water after duck season is over unless you are planning on not letting it out at all.

If you want smartweed let down now. If You want Sprangle Top and Sedge let down later. If planting millet let down later.

I'll probably start a slow draw down around May. It sounds like you already know this, but if you want to promote growth, make sure the draw down is nice and slow.

I used to draw mine down, but not with the drought conditions we are in. If I would have drawn down last off season I would have had hardly in water in shallow/flooded areas this past season and hunting would have been terrible. I like to keep all water I can these days, letting water out is big gamble.

Now if you can pump water, that is sweet.
