Has anyone hunted Woodson, Tx area? I looked at a lease this weekend and was wondering what the hunting was like there. Seemed to be a good area. Its located in Throckmorton county

Thanks!

Ranger, I hunt in Murray, about 8 miles northeast of Woodson. Area is known to have good deer, hogs and turkey. Good amount of hunting pressure and deer can go nocturnal fairly early in season. Some booners out that way though.

Is there much cover in your area?
The lease we looked at was mostly scrubby mesquite trees, with one wooded lot and a wheat field. But it seemed like thats just the terrain in that area.

My small place has light to moderate cover, some of the larger tracts around me have moderate to heavier cover. It is generally mesquite and mesquite flats..

The lot we looked at is only 320 acres. But right down the road from the lease we saw deer, a large pack of hogs and a some turkey so it looks promising. We didnt see much sign on the property itself which had us worried. But overall do you think its an area worth getting?
The price and the drive (only 2.5 hours) are very tempting.
