If posting in multiple forum pages violates any of the forum rules please let me know. I posted this in the Migratory Bird hunting section too but I think you hog hunters may be a bit more interested. I have a 2 year old brendle hound (Plott Hound I think) that is giving us problems. He has killed a couple of other animals that got into our yard. most recently a goat that belonged to my neighbors. I am convinced that he would be a great hunting dog for anyone with the time to train him. He hunts anything that gets in our yard... Cats, Birds, Skunks, Mice, Whatever. He is very trainable but I'm not at home enough to make a difference for him. I refuse to take him to the pound because he was doing what he was bred to do. He's a very loving dog that is great with my kids and eager to please. He just gets out of hand when another animal gets too close. We have 2 other dogs and there is no problem with them. just the neighbor's animals. Please let me know if you would like to come to Sanger and meet Riley. I hate to see him go but I can't keep paying for my neighbors pets either. Someone please help us out. I will send pictures to anyone who is seriously interested.

I'm curious as to why your neighbor's goat was in your yard?

Sounds like he would be a great hunting dog. I hope he finds a good home. Good for you to do your best in finding him a good place. Best of luck! smile

The neighbor thinks Riley jumped the fence and drug the goat back over. confused We have now realized that our fence needs repair in the back (We don't go back there very often.) It is leaning over a bit so I guess he could have jumped the fence. It is not the first time that something like this has happened. Another neighbor's dog stuck his head through our fence and Riley grabbed it and drug it through the fence and killed it. I just need to find him a good home and someone who will train him to hunt. Obviously that is what he wants to do.

Here are the pictures of Riley. He's a speed demon but really great with our kids.

Looks more like a Rhodesian cross than Plott. Look at that last pic with your boys. He's sitting on them to show his dominance. Theres where your problem is. He's an alpha male and very capable of taking care of his business. But killing goats and other dogs. Maybe, but I'd have to catch him in the act. Could be a good hog dog as someone already said.

He's a damn good dog, he just needs some training. I just don't have the time to do it myself.
