And the THF is full of opinions if nothing else. grin

This will take a couple of posts to get the pics in. Years ago, I traded a guy for some engraved antler knife handles. He's gone and this is my last handle. This post is just pics of the handle. The next post shows some blade options. I'm torn about whether to go for color or not. I have some nice Georgetown Blue and Georgetown Black flint but don't have any blades from them right now. I also can't decide what blade type. When I had a dozen of these handles, choosing was no problem. Now that I'm down to my last one, I've gotten gun shy.

I like #4 or #5, actually #5 because with the others it seems like the colors of the blades compete with the engraving. Beautifull handle and blades !!

Thanks for the thoughts. #5 is a slight drop point so it fits the handle style better than the others. The actual blade will probably follow the back curve of the handle a little more but I agree with the material. I know I have more somewhere. It's just a matter of finding it. Looks like it might rain this weekend so that's a perfect excuse to lock myself up in my shop and do some knapping. I've got a bleached Coyote jawbone that's been calling me to make a blade for it too.

Thanks! The guy that engraved these was a member of the 104th Infantry Division in WWII whose shoulder patch was a Timberwolf. The Eagle pays tribute to America. The Timberwolf pays tribute to his fellow soldiers. I just haven't been able to make myself mess with it. It's been sitting in my "office" for around 5 or 6 years now.

I like #4 the best. I like the top line of my knives to flow without interruption. The curve of the handle should go naturally into the top curve of the blade, IMO.

Beautiful, beautiful work. I love to have one of those one day. I like the style of number 4 with the colors of number 1, 2, and 3. I'd love to see some of the blades in the Georgetown Blue or Black

4 or 5 look the best in both shape and color with the handle.

I like #4's profile better with the handle, but #5 is definitely awesome. Gonna' be a nice piece whichever you decide, no doubt.

Again, thanks to everyone for the thoughts. I found another box of stuff that had some flint blades in it. Again, these may or may not actually be the blade I use. I'm looking for a good starting point. I always start with a handle and make the blade to match. Lastly, sorry for the bad pic of the black flint.

Also, the last pic is a test. If you can identify what this piece was used for or even what Country it was used in, you are in small company. There is one person here than may get it.

Looks like it might have been used on a North American fish fork. Something indengionous ones may have fashioned after a washed up Mako tooth. Just a guess, I have no real idea.

Numbers one and two look really nice, I prefer #2 for the longerslope of the edge. #3 looks more like a kitchen knife to me.
