Have you ever been stocking a deer or scouting an area for deer and had solid tracks and all of a sudden the tracks disappear? During last season i had this happen a few times to me and i was wondering if any body had suggestions on how to pick them back up or had the same thing happen to them?

Alien deer abductions have been common on this side of the state.

Happens to me every Deer season. Maybe there's a Bigfoot in the area. You should try a few knocks.

They were eaten by black squach panther....a VERY RARE half breed in those parts.
Or maybe you were following "undocumented" deeralians

Vegas, baby, they go to Vegas.
My hunting buddy used to do deer counts on a high fenced deer ranch as part of the management plan that had to be maintained for the ranch permits. Sometimes, they would have to repeat a given census when the deer "were laying down" as he called it. The deer could not leave the property (except by alien abduction),and yet a large percentage could not be found anywhere and would fail to show up on game cameras for a few days.
My place isn't high fenced. I have had both deer and hogs disappear for no apparent reason. So my theory is that they go on vacation and Vegas is a favorite spot. When vacation is over, they come back. Maybe they lay down. Maybe aliens. Maybe the black squatch panther. Any way you look at it, it is a normal phenomenon.

Keep walking in the direction of the last tracks seen. Sometimes the ground gets hard and you just lose them...Happens often.

Look for compacted grass, look at the blades of grass for bruising or moist looking spots, rocks that have been kicked out of the dirt or freshly pressed into the dirt. It takes time to get used to looking at the whole picture.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I am not sure where you are hunting but through the years, I have seen this occur when a mountain lion moves into an area. Lions and deer do not mix...if a lion settles into an area, the deer are gone but will return once the lion move on. It may take a week or two before the deer return to the general area. Bobcats tend to hang around feeders as the feed draws rats, rabbits and birds and when this occurs, you will see a decrease in deer activity. Bobcats will not effect deer over a large area, just right around the feeder. Adios, Gary

I think he is asking that while tracking a deer from prints, he tracks them for a while and then loses the trail. Correct?

Brock, are you following a set of tracks and they disappear, or, you are going back to where you have regularly seen tracks and the deer have stopped coming through that particular spot? And what time of year did the tracks disappear?
