Well how does it look fellas? I made the barn wood back and tied the leather to the birds. We bought the boxes of Peter's shells last year.

Very nice. Love the deep red color they have. Those the ones you shot at the coast?

The fact that I got to see her dust both of them makes it even a better mount!

Bartender, bring me anything except brake fluid, cause I don't plan on stopping!

I've been trying to buy one of those empty boxes off of EBay, may I ask what you had to spend?

Yes my wife shot these the last day of duck season. The one on the left was a Bull.

We got them at a gunshow for $15 each. But he threw in the shells.

That is a good price, I can't seem to find one under $35.

If you get a chance run by a gun show. You can usually find them for fairly cheap. My brother saw the boxes and told me he has a full box of the same shells at home. He is a rat packer for sure.

I used a cell phone for the picture. What you can't see is I found an old square head nail in the barn a long time ago. I set it on a rafter in the barn and remembered it when I built the back ground. I think the little details like that make all the difference in the story of the mount.

For those that don't know these are the birds my wife killed. I had made a mistake in over loading her abilities to shoot a bigger shotgun. I thought she could handle the bigger loads and it liked to have ruined her from shooting for good.

We were headed to go turkey hunting in Fredricksberg. I slipped her a turkey load while we were shooting paper turkey targets. It thumped her pretty good. She just shut down on shooting.

So to combat my already stupid mistake I bought her a .410 and let her shoot all she wanted. She really got back into the joy of shooting. So this year I stepped her 12 ga down to 2 3/4 #6 shot. In her Beretta she barely felt any recoil.

So we went down to the coast on an easy hunt. Shooting in the evening in 75 degree weather from a blind built on hard packed sand. She had a great time.

The first bird in she flat missed. I told her to get a little bit more in front on the next bird. I also told her to fire a round off in the water in the open hole the birds were trying to land in. She did and it seemed to turn a light on for her. she could actually see how big the pattern was at 25 yards.

The next bird in she hammered. He skipped on the water. She squealed and smiled. I knew she was back. She finished out with the Bull in the picture. She told me yesterday she wished it was still season. So I think it worked.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to check out a few gun shows. I put this dead mount together this year. It's gonna have a drake Goldeneye real soon with it.
