All you serious predator hunters:

I want to get a little more serious about my predator hunting and am looking for recommendations on a light to mount to the scope of my .22-250. What brands have you had good luck with? Do you prefer white, red, or green? Why?

Right now I'm looking at the Sniper Hog Light and the Elusive Wildlife Technologies XLR-250. Any preference? Would really like a mount that attaches/detaches pretty quick.

I've got the XLR 250 and it works really well for me. Blowing dust, pollen, and high moisture all reduce range, but overall I'm pleased.Mine is green---most wildlife is not bothered by it.

I'm sitting under an oak tree near Buffalo Springs as we speak waiting to clean some coons off out feeders. This is a killer setup with the XLR250

I have the XLR250 with the green diode it does a good job out to about 170 yards will pick up eyes and other reflective objects a lot farther. I have used mine primarily for hog hunting I have no doubt that it would be a great varmint light. Mine came with a quick detach scope mount and a more permanent barrel type mount.

I have the Destroyer from Sniper Hog Lights and really like it. Got the green light and like the others said, does not seem to spook game. It came with a scope mount, rifle barrel mount and 2 shotgun mounts. Can see with a good scope out to 200 yds with no problem. Had to order a new pressure switch because the wires came apart in the tail cap, but that was the only problem I have had. Think I'm going to get a tail cap with just the on off button.

I carry a gun because a cop is to heavy!

I have this:

Pieced it together for 30dollars. Green LED diode and works great! Doesn't bother the wild life. All of these lights are pretty much the same in build- just renamed and double or triple the price. Hogs and rabbits wink

Another vote for the XLR-250. I've been using it for 2 or 3 years and haven't had any problems with it.

MRCHIRO has the same light I have. They are all made in China and buying direct saves you the 100-120 dollar markup by buying the XLR250 I have the green but for varmint hunting I don't see the need to buy green. If you watch enough of the predator hunting videos they almost always use white. Hogs don't seem to care about the color from my experience.

Exactly so, sir! I don't want to spend the extra cash for something I could get for cheaper and it being the same product. Those lights that they ordered only differ with custom engravings of the model #. Here's another shot of the side view

Thanks guys. Put in an order with Lightmalls today. Appears to be the same light as the XLR250 but a greatly reduced cost. Getting 2 lights, multiple LED emitters (different colors), chargers, a pressure switch, spare batteries and gun mounts for less than one of the XLR250 kits would have run.

Appreciate all the responses.

Good call. Don't buy the brand name if you can avoid it b/c its all the same products.

They all come from china. This is the UltraFire WF-502B that comes with a green LED diode already in the package. Less than three weeks to arrive from china aint bad if it's $30 vs $100-200. In fact, I bought my whole package deal from mounts to batteries- all a total of $60. Couldn't be anymore happier. Then again, I'm not here to persuade others to get what I got nor am I saying what they got was a bad deal- it's their money so they can spend it however they want. Some have more money than others and others who do have the money choose to save wink

I looked at a ton of lights but didn't want to spend a lot on one. After hours and hours looking around all over the internet I found the nebo tools protec greenlight. It comes with a mount and the pressure sensor for $55.00 on amazon. It mounts on the barrel but may fit some scopes. If you didn't want it on the barrel you could probably figure out how to get it mounted elsewhere. I just didn't want to pay like $300 for a colored flashlight.

Yep, I bought 3 of them from China after I bought the XLR 250. Problem is, I had to take pieces and parts of the 3 to make 2 as each had some sort of issue. Try returning them. Mine took more like 6 weeks to get here. I don't know if they do anything different or not to the ones they ship to Elusive Wildlife (EW), but the switches seem different. in the field I continued to have issues from time to time getting the Chinese lights to turn on. Now, I just take the EW. Anyway, not trying to argue, this is just my experience.

....and just for clarity, the WF 502B is more of a direct comparison to the XLR100. The WF 502B is rated at 200 lumens while the XLR 100 is rated at 180 lumens in green. The XLR 250 on the other hand, is a 800 - 900 lumen light.

On both of my models, i switched out the white LED diodes for 210 lumen diodes.

OK...210 lumens, but that is still more comparable to the XLR 100. There is a big diffrence in a 900 lumen light and a 200 lumen light.

As a matter of practicality, I will say this... Most of us that shoot pigs at night are overwhelmingly and/or predominantly shooting at 100 yards or less. In this case, the XLR 100 or the little Chinese light does the job just fine.

But please don't have people think that the Chinese model represented in this thread is comparable to the XLR 250. It is not.

I'm sure it isn't the same rating but just another option. Like I said previously, if you can spend the extra for the 800-900lumens then all the power to you.

Gotta deal with that danged "reverse clicky" switch, though.
