I think that is WAY high. My son killed one for $2000 after all other costs. I know guys who own ranches that have them for half the price you were quoted. Look at DB hunting ranch in texas. Here is where we went and my sons bull.

And if there's a bison on a ranch you'll kill it. It's not difficult...but still a blast

Depends on where your hunting. Small game farms that have one or five animals offer all kind of deals. Large ranches in the Dakotas and Montana(10,000 to 1000,000 acres)Offer a diferent experience and lots of big bulls to choice from. And its a hunt not a 300 acre killing field.

In Texas I've seen trophy bull hunts go for as much as 4k but the average maybe 2500.

Nine bar ranch is 12,000 acres. It's no pen. Call Jim bob. Awesome place...food, lodging and service is 5 star. $2,200 will get you a bull like above with food, lodging and cleaning included.

You won't need 3 days. Bison are easy to hunt.

Here in Kodiak, Alaska we have two private huntable herds that are fre ranging on BLM land. One hunt is ANY size bull or cow for $2500 as many days as you need. The other hunt is $4500 for a 3 day horseback hunt with meals and lodging included. These are also free range on thousands of acres. Both are cool hunts.
so $6500 seems a little high.

True wilderness hunt, sounds pretty cool.

How big is the area, what town is it near?

Roo Basher... It's in Kodiak, AK. Basically it could encompass the entire "road system" which .....GEEESShh just guesing would be over 200,000 acres. Though they normally are able to be found within a few thousand acres. I have seen them walking mountain goat trails at 2000 ft. elevavation!
It is a fun hunt. Long way to came for a Bison though. You could do a combo Sitka Blacktail deer hunt and Bison. ANd we have TONS of Mountain Goats,..which as a non resident you would need to hire a guide for.
here is a link to the horseback hunt

a mature trophy bull will go from anywhere from $2500-5500. Most will be in the $3000-4000 range from what I've seen. Live sale they have been going for around $1800-2750 lately for BIG bulls.

I just ate some ground bison from the 3 yr old bull my son shot. It was oddly gamey. I've eaten bison before - this taste was odd. We ate the steaks the other night and they were INCREDIBLE. What gives?!
