This is interesting!

Wednesday, it was discovered that hidden deep within the massive 2800-page bill called Obamacare, there is a Senate Amendment protecting the right to keep and bear arms.

It seems that in their haste to cram socialized medicine down the throats of the American people, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Barack Obama overlooked Senate amendment 3276, Sec. 2716, part c.

According to that amendment, the government cannot collect "any information relating to the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition." This means that the government CANNOT mandate firearm registration. No registration, no confiscation. Poor ol' Joe Biden, he spent the last couple of weeks focusing on making a law requiring registration. Good thing is though, the amendment also states that not even an executive order can override the amendment.

CNN is now referring to it as "a gift to the nation's powerful gun lobby."

And according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), that's exactly right. He says he personally added the provision in order to keep the NRA from getting involved in the legislative fight over Obamacare, which was so ubiquitous in 2010.

It looks like Harry Reid actually helped out firearm owners without even realizing it. Thanks Harry!!

"GIFT?" I can see why CNN or any of the mainslime media would spin it that way. If it's there, it wasn't by accident...

It means the entire gun ban effort is a ruse to skyrocket the price of firearms and ammo (follow the money trail... who is profiting from this?);

Reid gets to look like a "hero"?????

Makes obamacare a catch 22 for opponents - get rid of the bad legislation and surrender this 'protection' (which is, in fact, NO protection in actuality because 2A already protects our right to own firearms.)

So, Reid is saying the NRA could be 'bought out' on obamacare over that clause????

Looks like a sham all over to me.

We already had the 2nd we don't need a buried paragraph in some BS healthcare law. If people can find that obscure little snippet stuck in there maybe they can also explain what the hell else those 2800 pages say because my company is spending countless hours trying to decipher it and spending huge money trying to adjust for 2014 and Obamacare. And Pizz on Harry Reid; the only person he's ever done a favor for is himself.

If I'm not mistaken, that little "gift" is referring to collection of information regarding firearms as it relates to the healthcare act ONLY. Medical personnel cannot ask any questions about firearms or ammunition and keep records of same. Has nothing to do with general ownership, right to keep and bear, registration, etc. That's what the 2nd Amendment is for. The two are totally separate.

I think the EO #16 on Friday, Jan 26th addressed this issue?

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
