So, I just had shoulder surgery for arthritis and impingement in January and have been dying for the surgery site to heal well and was waiting on feeling strong enough to handle recoil again.

I got an invite to hunt some private land here in Germany last night, and it was COLD! I was set up in a nice box stand overlooking a ravine with a steep hill on the other side. We were out for pigs, but also take fox or badger when given the chance. The wind was howling, and the temperature dropped to a crisp 13F. after an hour in the stand, I heard something shuffle past my stand, but just behind me on a logging road that was covered in snow. I took a second to reach back and grab my binos to see what it was, and lo and behold, there stood one of the biggest badgers I have ever seen. I put my binos against my chest and gently eased my rifle from the front window across my body and then out the left side. I turned on my red dot from my Zeiss Victory Varipoint and placed it just behind the shoulder and let go with an 8mm soft point. All I saw was a weird kind of ballet pirouette and then nothing. I had a little blowing snow falling from the trees, but there in the shadow of a snow covered pine lay a 20 lb male badger. When I got the text from my partner, I confirmed the shot and told him what I had. He asked if I wanted to make bacon out of it, but I told him my wife would rather make bacon out of me if I brought him home. We skinned him and left the meat for the fox and pigs. Here's what he looked like when I got to him.

Korea is nothing like Germany, and no amount of Army Modernization propaganda will convince me otherwise. I miss my wife and kids something fierce

Great story!

We skinned it, and I hope to get a tanned hide out of him. It depends on the guy who is gonna do the work for me. He's retired and he works on his own timeline, which is to say not at all.
