I've been looking into buying a 3D target and using it as a decoy. anybody have any luck with them. It wouldn't be left in the elements and put up every time. How do they hold up? Anybody tried this?

They work (or don't work) just as well as decoys -- they are just heavier to haul in and out. In my experience, decoys are fun to hunt over if used at the right time. I've found they scare the crap out of does and younger bucks are more likely to respond to them than mature bucks.

I have one and have occasionally used it as a doe. It seems to calm down any deer that come around but doesn't really draw a lot.
