Is killing me...

Two nights in a row I woke up to the dog still howling after midnight. Its deffinitly not the easiest.

Hang in there.

We are finally over the midnight howl for potty and it comes around 430 - 5 for breakfast. The midnight yell practice lasted for about 3-4 days and everynow and again but only because she needs to go outside and goes right back to to kennel and sleep. Aint easy for sure but it will get there. Mine just turned 8 wks and we've had her 3. Have you put one of your worn shirts with your smell on it in the kennel? Good luck

No I just play with him and lead him in with his toy that he likes and then wait till he pays down. Then I close the door and pet him through the cage for a couple minutes before I walk away. It's hard letting him just howl because I have a 2 week old son that I try not to wake up. My pup just turned 10 weeks and I've had him for 3 days.

my wife did the same thing the first couple nights and finally told her to leave and let her howl. hard to do, but.... Tougher for you with a baby in the house too. Good luck, it will get there.

3-4 days is about the average. Stick to your guns and it will be over before you know it. If it makes you feel any better, because we start pups for folks, it's not uncommon for us to kennel train a dozen or more pups at the same time. Imagine the din...

I have the opposite problem. My pup is silent. Only time my dog barks is if there's a booger man or the cat or other dog has something she wants. She goes in her kennel easily and gets a treat. She doesn't whine or cry but will pee and poop in the kennel without predjudice. Doesn't bother her one bit. I have an extra large kennel with a divider a little more than halfway. How can I keep her from going to the bathroom in the kennel?

Sounds like there is too much room for her. Make it smaller to where she has to lay in it if she goes. I've found they wont do that

Should I make it smaller if she has to be in there for almost 12 hrs on the days I work?

Some dogs will actually de-sensitize themselves to the mess. Doesn't bother them one bit to lay in it. They assume someone will come clean it up. I've found I have to go the exact opposite way to fix it. Stick them out in the yard where they learn to like being clean (maybe muddy, but not poopy.) Once they live life in the 'clean lane', they are reluctant to go back to filthy living.

12 hrs seems like a long time to ask a pup to hold on to anything. Not sure I even could. LOL. Good luck with her
