All, I just got back from a trip to Missouri for the light goose conservation season. We've gone with Habitat Flats for the past 3 years and the first two were good, but we missed the main part of the migration both times. This year I had a friend call me last minute and ask if I wanted to fill his friend's spot and I'm glad I said yes! We killed 219 birds in 3 days, which pales in comparison to the 272 bird day they had there a couple of days later, but was an incredible experience nonetheless. Our group took a neck collared blue goose during our hunt that was banded in Nunavut, Canada in 2000 or earlier. Since they don't neck collar them anymore, I felt pretty lucky to have witnessed it. I probably won't get the chance to see a neck collared goose like that again. I usually take my dog, Nitro, with me up there, but since my boyfriend couldn't go with me I took his dog instead. It was his first goose hunt and he did incredible (minus trying to figure out the dog blind and how to pick up a goose). Eventually, he decided that bringing two geese back at once was more efficient, and I am okay with that! Anyway, I put together a little youtube video of our hunt and thought you might enjoy. Make sure to watch in 720p! Thanks and happy hunting. Alex http://youtu.be/yggNDCkKRtw

Thanks guys! The pup had some trouble figuring out the layout blind set up. I usually always stake my dog down, but I left my stake in the spread on day 1. He only actually broke on that one bird at the beginning of the video, but he started getting antsy and would move out to the side of the layout blind a little bit. Regardless, he was doing 200 yard blinds on the first day and I couldn't be more proud. My boyfriend trained him without any help and I commend him for that. I had mine sent off to school... No patience! Thanks for the kind replies.

SOme of the best goose dogs I have ever hunted over were allowed to break. They took off on the shot. He let them do that to help get a start on the "sailer" geese, that may go 400 yards away. They didn't loose any birds. These were full time goose dogs though.
Definitely a different process than a duck hunt.

Awesome video.
Looks like a great time

I tried fixing it so you could watch it on a cellphone/iPad, but it won't seem to let me because it is in HD. I have had this problem with one of my other YouTube videos as well. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Those guys say the birds work better on a clear day, and it worked out fine for us so I'm good with it!

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.
