I am looking for a lease within 2hrs of Houston. I have a Brittany and would love to find an area I can run her and even work her on birds. If anyone knows of an area please let me know!
Thanks, Rose

Within 2 hours of Houston, sure.
Very, very difficult to find a lease in Fort Bend, Brazoria, Austin, or Colorado counties because everyone is looking for them and the few available usually go to friends of the land owner.
You could probably find luck heading up 45 towards huntsville or Madisonville or out east towards the LA border.

How many acres are you needing?
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I don't necessarily need an actual lease, I just want somewhere to run and work my dog. I'd be willing to pay each time I used the land vs a yearly lease. Not picky on amount of acres, just somewhere large enough where we can get a good workout in and that is safe from traffic.

I'm not being a smartass when I ask this:
Have you taken your dog out to George Bush Park? There are tons of trails through the woods and large, open areas you could run it. Thousands of acres.
Obviously no hunting, but if you're just looking to run your dog, I'd start there. Very close to Katy.

I never thought of George Bush Park, I'll check it out! I myself do not hunt but I enjoy watching my dog and of course she loves it! Thanks for the suggestion. :-)

The field where NSTRA runs it's Katy trials sells memberships. There are usually a few feral birds on the pastures.

Bill, I've tried contacting the NSTRA in Katy, and can never get any replies. I guess I'll try again, as they are pretty close to me.

NSTRA is not affiliated with the lease. We pay to have our trials there. The guy who leases the land lives in Sealy, but I don't have his contact information.
