Hit the lake with my Dad this morning to try and catch some Hybrids. Man it was windy and COLD but the fish didnt seem to care. After a COLD run across the lake we located some fish deep and it was on!! Like I said we were pretty much focused on Hybrids but if we would have down sized our baits we could have slayed the Sandies. We still probably caught 70-80 fish total but could have doubled that number with smaller baits. We ended up catching probably 20-25 Hybrids but most of them were in the 3-4 pound range but had a few others that were much better. We also managed to catch a couple kitty cats to.
The first few hours were brutal with that cold wind blowing. I pretty much had to stand on the trolling motor buttons for the first few hours and that drained the batteries pretty quick. Thankfully the wind completly died about the time my batteries got weak so we were able to continue to fish. It wasnt one of those days were you could catch one as quick as you could put your bait in the water but it was pretty steady action all day long.
Also got to visit with a good portion of the TFF Ray Hubbard gang out there as well. Saw Plano Kieth, Fishboy Frank, Blue Tuna, Rockwall Roy and I am sure I am leaving some others out.......not that any of you THF'ers would know who they are anyway. We all had a great time talking and catchin fish though.
All fish were released. I have plenty in the freezer already. Funny thing is we let all of our fish go and then stopped at Long John Silvers on the way home.
And as you can see in this pic the wind just died!!
