Which ever one you have that you can shoot from a .22 up. Bullet placement is critical.
It's the time spent in God's creation with family and friends making memories that counts.

Lots of rifles would be better, but lots would be worse. A .243 is adequate for hog hunting. Some folks are very successful using .223 or even .17HMR although I personally think those are a bit light. Some hunters use .338 or .458, it kind of depends upon what you like. Since you already have a .243 I'd use that, unless of course you're really just looking for an excuse to purchase another rifle (nothing wrong with that!). If that's the case, consider an AR-10. That way you can get a new .30 Caliber hog rifle AND irritate a bunch of politicians at the same time. BONUS!
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

I love shooting a .243 for hogs. Sweet little round. Also use a .270. great thing about the .270 is even now theres no problem finding ammo

308 does a fine job on hogs.

I've shot hogs with everything from a 17 hmr to a 30-06. The 243 is an awesome hog cartridge. Shot placement is key

Thank you for this thread. I have only been hunting hog with a crossbow. Looking for something don't have to get that close to some of the big ones Looking at the .270 and .300 Cost wise I think I will go with a 270

Any standard deer caliber will work on hogs with proper bullet placement.

I use a 45-70 when I'm strictly pig hunting, but just because I like it. A .243 in the earhole would certainly ruin a hog's day, no matter how big an ol' boy he is. Actually, anywhere from eye to brisket with a .243 would about do any of 'em in. (reasonable range assumed!)

(reasonable range assumed!) good thinking, i still need to pick up a 45-70, I use my 458 Socom and 450 Bushmaster, which near the 45-70, i'm in to the AR platform for ease of use...

Hogs are like anything else one hunts shot placement is the most important factor..If you miss or lose one, we'll not run out or short..I don't care to consume old stinky Boars or poor sickly animals, but some seem to think one must eat every varmit one kills...I guess that's why Buzzards don't eat Coyotes...DD

I've killed them (or seen them killed) with 7.62x39, .243, .300 weatherby magnum, .223, .30-30, .270, .30-06, and .264. They all died the same, so I would use what you like and can afford to shoot.

I use my 45-70 Marlin and my shotguns. Also my .308, 6.5 creedmoor and 30-30. And have had to use my .40 taurus if that's all I got. 45-70 is my favorite. Hit one hog and the one right behind it a lot with one round haha
