Hey, new to the forum. I'm in the military and stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso. I'm from WV originally and love to hunt, but the rules here are odd to say the least. I plan on registering for some deals here on post to try to get in the lottery to get to hunt something, but who knows how that will work out, this is my first year trying so I have no idea. I then thought about even buying some land, which is when I saw this deal on Craigslist that seems a bit too good to be true. It's been there for months and I even enquirer about it once and was sent a map of the place, but I got nervous and just forgot about it. It's getting close to the time to register for this years "drawing", so I started thinking about it again and noticed the gunsight ranch deal is still there. So basically I can put 20% down and buy a 26 acre piece of land at $165 a month and get access to the entire 32000 acre ranch. Anyone have any real facts about this place? Thanks in advance.

Old saying that if it sounds too good to be true, you know the rest.

Its a big ranch in the desert by the Quitman mountains. The problem is they sell off all of these little parcels of land which gives you the right and a guest to hunt the 32k ranch. The problem is that they have sold a lot of parcels. It's a big place but it's not all nearly huntable so you'll have parade of hunters on the same place. I've had people and the GW tell me it looks like a circus opening weekend but there are some nice deer taken out of there every year but far and few in between. It's the local version of the Ginsu knife infomercial.

Sounds like money has taken over the hunting around here. I've never had to buy a hunting license and then pay again for each animal I kill and depending on the animal it could go into the thousands. So now you have hoards of people buying small tracks of land to hunt only to realize they weren't the first to think of that. I guess I will not be wasting any more money on buying land and will just take my chances on the ft bliss ranges until I can get back east. Thanks for the info.

I am stationed at fort bliss and I know a retired 1SG that bought a piece of that Gunsight ranch. He is leasing the hunting rights to me and I have been going out there for a few months and I have yet to even see another person out there. I take my kid out there and we find a valley or canyon to camp in and hunt prairie dogs, coyotes, mule deer, pronghorn, rattlesnakes, and kit foxes out there. It hasn't turned out to be a bad deal for me so far....

I'm from Texas originally so if you got any questions let me know and I'll help you out the best I can
