I was wondering if I need to take a HSC here in Texas before I can hunt? I have a HSC from California where I am from, but am stationed here in the Army. I have my hunting/fishing license that I picked up on post, since active duty gets them for free here in Texas(thanks Texas) but do I need to take the course as well before I am able to hunt here, or am I good to go since I already have the license?

As long as you have proof of hunter safety you should be ok. But it wouldn't hurt to call tpwd and check.
Keep em huntin and they wont have time to get in trouble!! And remember RESPECT goes a long way!!

Q: If I move to another state or desire to hunt in another state, do I have to take that states Hunter Ed course? A: No. The Hunter Ed certification you receive has reciprocity in every state of Mexico and the USA, and every province of Canada. You do not have to take the course again. Be advised that there are a few confused clerks at some stores where hunting licenses are sold who think you must have a Maryland certification to hunt in Maryland. That is incorrect. Any states certification is recognized by any other state. http://www.damascusiwla.org/HSFAQ.htm

Jeh7mmmag is as usual spot on. IHEA International Hunters Education Association is the organization that oversees hunters education and all 50 states, Canada and some other countries use the same criteria from them for certification. As long as you have your card "Certification" from one location "State" it is good in another.

Nope, you're good. Might also check into how much a license it. I know my son, who is a Texas resident, get a FREE Super Combo when he comes home (he is active duty). Not sure if that works the same for non-resident active duty or not.

I was with the First Cavalry back when it was known as the First Air Cav, 1968. Thank you for your service.
