If the date on that pic is correct, I'll bet he's not still around!

"eeyor" has been on the glassock ranch, on camera, for 9 years now. Coulda bet that he died after last year's drought, but sure enough, last day of whitetail season, here comes ol 1-eared eeyor. He doesnt go for the corn anymore, I assume he has no teeth. I watched him for about an hour eat out of the protein feeder though. If only there was a mulie season in Glasscock. He limps terribly, is the size of a cow, and only has one ear. When I first saw him 4 years ago, he was quite impressive. Now, at 9+++, I just feel sorry for him.

I know what you mean Csddaren, when you think they are gone they will show up . Those old Mule Deer can live a long time ,Heck they dont get realy big untill they are 6,7 or 8 yr. I found a scull with antlers that looked like old brownie in a steep canyon near were this pic. was taken last summer ,we called him that because he was alway's seen with a white colored big bc. So they were white and brownie . Do not regret letting chances at him go by . Can see youngun's that look like them both . The neighbor had a guest that got White 167BC.White horns ,he had lost in body weight the last couple yr, like your eeyor no teeth left . He was a Hoss in his day ...Dusty.

what do they typically weigh in TX? We weigh most of our mature bucks... they weight a little north of 200lbs field dressed. Live weight averages 260.

what do they typically weigh in TX? In western Pecos County our 5-6 yr old bucks will typically weigh from 175-190 most of the time in average years with top end bucks in wet years going up to 210 lbs dressed weight. We had an old 8 yr old plus buck killed during the drought in 2011 that dressed in the mid 130's. He looked like a toad but was short and blocky. Here is a pic of him from 2010. He would have dressed a bit more this year than in 2011 but not enough to make that much of a difference. TC pics can be missleading. We hunt typical West Texas ranch land without any feed or farm crops.

Depends on where your hunting. I've hunted trans pecos mule deer and currently hunt panhandle mule deer. Panhandle can get considerably bigger because of access to agriculture fields and fewer droughts to contend with. We hunt on natural terrain with no agriculture and I would say our average mature buck field dresses about 200-220. I'm told that panhandle mulies are a bigger species that originates from the mountain species in that they have bigger bodies and heavier coats than the trans pecos species. what do they typically weigh in TX?

Yessir, my understanding is the panhandle deer are restocked from the Rocky Mountain herd, isn't uncommon to find those in the mountains sitting close to 350-400lbs w/o any sort of crop fields.
