I have heard that they (the State of Texas) is working on legislation that would no longer require you to conceal a handgun, that it could be worn on your belt etc. Anyone heard anything on this? Makes much more sense to have it exposed and let's face it, this is Texas. We don't have very many months out of the year when we can wear enough clothes to conceal anything bigger than a derringer.

Yes, they have been trying to pass open carry in Texas for many years now. I don't think it is all that it's cracked up to be and tactically doesn't make sense for the average joe to carry openly. I applaud the effort and would support it but I just don't see me carrying openly. CC for me

I don't know why anyone would want to open carry, but I guess each person has their own thoughts on the matter.

Concealed carry appeals more to me also. I prefer incognito to Jack Palance...

I prefer to carry compact glock on the belt at 3-4 o'clock and cover with vest shirt tail etc but if I didn't have to worry at all about it being exposed when I bend down etc I would be happy.

We have open carry in Oklahoma, but nearly nobody actually carries openly. To date, I have seen a guy at a gun shop carrying a nice nickel plated Colt 1911 openly - and just yesterday I wore my .44 Desert Eagle while checking on a vacant rent house because it's been broken into twice. Felt pretty good to have that DE on my hip, but nobody saw me except the next door neighbor. He's a Marine and wanted to check it out. LOL
