Has anyone on here ever tried to mix Milo in with corn in a spin feeder to attract turkeys. Just curious.

Yes. Just do not mix in to much. A little milo goes a very long way. I would mix in about 10% milo if it were me. Also you might have to adjust down you feed run time as the milo will feed out faster if you mix in more. Cracked corn is another good alternative or soybeans/peas.

I mix in one bag of milo with 4 bags of corn in several of my feeders. Hogs and deer will often clean up the corn, but milo gives me a 'second layer' of feed for the birds.

Most of my milo feeders are directed at Turkey, but one is for a decent sized covey of quail I'm trying to encourage. 5 years ago I would rarely see a quail out there. Last weekend I saw quail just about every time I went near that one feeder. Flushed them up once and saw over 30 birds fly. Not yet what I'd consider a huntable population for the ranch, but its progress.

Never thought about Quail, we have a few small coveys but nothing huntable. I used to have a quail lease, I sure do miss it.

The one downside of putting in milo with corn for me was in the fall for deer hunting is all the doves and other birds that it holds. If you are an archery hunter even the slightest movement will spook doves and then it makes the deer spook and run. I quit doing it year round due to that reason.

Love running some milo in the spring for Turkeys. It will bring in the hogs though!

IIRC, last time I filled with some milo a month or 2 back, corn, protein and milo were all running pretty close to the same per bag in the $10 range. Used to be cheaper, but not a money saving measure anymore.

Hogs pass over a bunch of mine after eating the corn thrown with it, and move on to another feeder. As far as drawing hogs, the corn does a plenty good job of that without the milo.

Have run Milo/corn before. now use a hen scratch mix that has cracked corn, peas, milo, wheat and oats. The turkey and quail seem to love it and the deer still visit.

from jan to may I usually put some hen scratch in with my corn and the turkeys love it and all other birds do too. If your feeder barrels have a lid with the gasket seal the hen scratch will sometimes stop up your feeder because your barrel will sweat but if you just use the galvanized lid that fits over the top of the barrel like I do then it will be fine. I have always used those lids and have never had one blow off and it allows the barrel to breath.

My experince with milo, other birds will get it before the turkeys, just corn best bet.

I hear what you are saying, but the difference for me is probably that I'm not trying to attract turkey from afar, just hold them in the area and give them some supplemental feed. I rarely put milo in feeders that are a good distance from our established roost. They turkey hit it first thing after they fly down along with the water we keep there. Also get a feeding in on the way back to the roost in the evening. We do have other birds hitting it up as well, but they hit the corn too, and there is still plenty left for the turkey.

another good thing to do is set another feeding time say 9 am uaually the deer have already hit the early morning feed and the turkeys have it all to themselves. Wouldn`t throw but about 2 seconds if your concerned about your corn running out. I use this technique myself because that`s when the turkeys show up at my feeders.

Yeah if you wanna bring turkeys in, mix your milo in with the corn and set your feeder to go off once at noon. That'll give the turks the best chance to get to the feed before the deer and the pigs get it all.

I mix 50,lbs for every 100lbs of corn. The turkeys , quail, and hogs clean everything up.
