What scope do you guys use/recommend?

Never used a scope, but if I were to the Nikon shotgun with the turkey retical would sure be tempting.

I'm trying to decide between the Nikon and the truglo gobble stopper red dot. Thought I would see if anyone had any experience with either.

I dont know that i would use a scope for turkeys. If i was to try a different sight I might try something like the burris speed bead.

Burris Fastfire III or a Mueller seem to be the most popular red dot sights used for turkey hunting. Reasonably priced and dependable. One step above those are EoTech.

Why is everyone opposed to a scope for there turkey gun? I thought it would be the way to go, but maybe I'm missing something.

Seriously though i dnt see a shotgun as a scoped gun.... maybe a slug gun but not realy... IMO your gona limit yourself with vision and when turkey hunting your gona usualy be shooting at 10,15,25yrds and i wouldnt want to be lookin through a scope at 10yrds

Its all about what you want though...id go get hands on and look through alot of them to find the one you want if you decide to....someone could point you in the right direction as far as faulty equipment but its gona boil down to what feels good to you

Yeah don't see a need plus just one more thing to get in the way. Nothing even wrong with using your regular old shotgun bead or no bead at all. It's important to pattern the ammo you will be shooting if at all possible.

truglo gobble stopper is DA BOMB! I love mine two colors and it has a dimmer! hunt with both eyes open and BANG! dead turkey

Rarely, a quick second shot may be required on a flying/wounded Tom. A scope would be a major handicap here. Use your scope money to buy ammo, camo, and permethrin.

Red dots are nice to have.

Used nikon turkey pro on mine last spring worked great plus it looks cool on my 11-87 special purpose turkey gun lol

Used to have one and after a few years decided i really didnt need it and if you need the second quick follow up shot it was a pain.

Thanks for the input. Think I'm going with the gobble stopper. I'm putting it on my pro hunter turkey gun so a quick follow up shot isn't really a factor!

If you got the money, the best is a Trijicon RMR. Shoot with both eyes open. Once patterned and adjusted, it's pretty hard to miss. These sights are lightening fast to lock onto the target. I have one on my 3 gun AR and my turkey gun. The only down side is the $$$$. Robust design!

If you use a scope with a shotgun:
1) you cannot see everything that you will hit. If you have ever hit two ducks with one shot, you have the same risk of not being able to see other targets when you shoot at a tom.
2) you cannot make a quick follow up shot. If there are more than one turkey or if you miss your first shot.

I used to use a 3 power diamond retical scope, but I will not use it again.

Maybe I should think about a dove scope for my shotgun. should never miss then.
