Yesterday evening I shot a doe at about 80 yards with my new .22-250

I had missed one earlier trying for a neck shot, these deer were very skittish and I didn't want to miss again, my confidence wasn't really high.

I am a big proponent on not using .22 centerfires for body shots on deer. Every time I have seen it done it was a long tracking job with little blood.

I typically use V-max but bought some game kings cause academy has a horrible selection of .22-250 ammo.

Anyway, I figure if this doe runs, she's in a field, how far can she go?

Put the crosshairs behind the shoulder and let one rip.

That little game king blew thru her, she whirled and ran and I can see blood comming out of her side.

She ended up not making it about 30-40 yards before she piled up.

Bullet hit a rib goin in, trashed her lungs and hit a rib going out, leaving an exit hole about the size of a quarter.

Now, I'm not saying me killing a 70lb for is reason for us to all go out and lung shoot deer with a .22 centerfires, BUT, I will say that I was pretty impressed what that little hollow point did.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Probably a good thing you had the game kings. I've shot one behind the shoulder with a vmax out of a 243 and it just blew up upon entry. She ran 20 yards and stopped and started wheezing. Hit her in the scapula on the second shot and dumped her. No doubt she would have died with just the first shot, but had she decided to run tracking would have been difficult with a small entry and no exit.

Love the 22-250. No kick and with a good hallow point head shots or behind the shoulder will kill your quarry. I've take four deer a buck two does and a spike with one and not one went more than 40 yards. actually the buck dropped where it stood after a well placed shot. Great riffle wish I had the money for one but my grandfather gave me a 308 so I use it now

I hunted with a single shot break action .223 for a number of seasons in my youth and never lost a deer.

I've always liked the game kings. Thought they were killers in every caliber I've shot them in.

I have a browing 22-250 and I love it. It is very accurate. I can put a hole thru another hole at 100 yds. On hogs, I dont shoot'em behind the ear, I put one right in their earhole. I have a 243,270,30-06, but the little 22-250 is my favorite gun to shoot.

I shoot nothing but Game Kings in the .243 and never have I had a deer run on me. They have dropped in there tracks..... Oh wait except the one I shot at hit wire fence split the bullet, knocked the deer out and I went to get the truck and I come back and it was gone. My game cam recorded the whole thing.
