Long story short - I wasn't able to head out to our place in Eastland Co on Fri or Sat due to family activities. Drove out Sunday morning from Austin to hunt Sunday evening and Monday. After helping the FIL with some work I got out to the stand by 2:30 to maximize my time in the field. Action started petty quickly. After having pretty good movement from 3 - 4:15 it all stopped. By 5:15 I was pretty much making plans on where I would hunt the next morning. Some how the guy below snuck out over the tank dam and was standing 100yds away. At 5:30 he laid were I shot him. Maybe not a monster that some of you post, but my best buck to date and I am proud of him. Not the best picture, but I was by myself and lossing light fast. Harvested in Eastland Co on 260acres LF. Bucks were bumping does, but they wanted nothing to do with it. After cleaning him, I drove back to Austin since my son was going to have his first visit from the tooth fairy and I wanted to be home to share the moment. So all in all, I drove 6 hrs for a 3hr sit, but it was worth it.

Good looking buck, Spent the last day and a half in Eastland county and Callahan county. Only hunted Eastland Monday afternoon but got a nice 8pt Monday afternoon. The bucks sure are ready there and some does are receptive from what I have seen, if the pattern for several years continues within the next week it will be on bigtime.

Update and question - Thanks for the kind words and replies. I got the Euro mount back and I think it looks pretty good. I also have pictures of the teeth. What do you guys think the age of the deer is? I am thinking mature enough, but would like input. I am trying to get better aging deer.

Nice one.

If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.
