I'm just wondering why you guys think a .22 revolver is a suitable defense weapon.
Sir the idea is to be the first one poking holes with what ever is available and the 22 is very easy to control. Even a brain dead hippy can hit their mark with a 22. Once you start poking holes thats a game changer. Heres the results of a little old 2 1/2 inch RG 22.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Depends what is closest, but shotgun is first choice. I have a ruger Mark IV that I would choose over most my other pistols. Doesn't matter how big the hole is, because I don't plan on just putting one in the intruder. I am very confident with that .22 and can stay on target longer than many other rounds.

Whichever gun I am closest too. I don't mind shooting someone inside my home with my Gamo Big Cat if it is the only one I can get to.
If time permits, I would like to get to my Glock or AR because those are the two I've trained with the most.

My two very "friendly" canine companions will keep them occupied until I back them up with a 357 revolver and my wife has overwatch with a 40cal w/TLR2 light/laser. Long guns are trouble for us in a neighborhood with neighbors too close for comfort.

Shotgun is under the bed with 8 shots in it and 18" barrel, that's what I want if I can get to it quick enough. In the drawer next to me is a Vaquero .44 Mag. I'd have to make sure a child's bedroom isn't beyond the bad guy with that hand cannon though.

A man was shot point blank in the head, another in the back of the neck, another in the abdomen, and hit the president in the lung. And no one died. 4 targets, 4 critical wounds, 0 deaths.

Both of you have valid points.
The guy that connects rounds first vapor locks everyone for enough seconds to have an advantage.
But yes the pistol did not kill anyone. It stopped them from what they were doing though.
I will say that I've handled the self inflicted head wound of a .22lr shot from an 18" rifle. The 22 year old was in a 3' wide puddle of blood when we arrived. He had a rate, rhythm, and pressure, even maintaned his own airway all the way to Parkland according to the Paramedics that transported him. He donated all his organs that day. That's the only good I could get out of that firearm incident.

Glock 19 on my wife's nightstand and 23 with a crimson trace on mine. Also have a mossy 500 in the corner loaded with 2 3" Steel T's then 3 #4 buck rounds. The AR stays close but I don't need that unless the KGB comes

LWRC SPR in 5.56
5.56 will not over penetrate as much as 9mm or double 00 buck! pistol cartridges of 9mm n greater will penetrate thru at least 3 interior walls (6 layers of sheet rock) and so will 00 buck. 5.56 starts to break up through the 1st interior wall and totally breaks up into pieces upon exiting the 2nd interior wall (4 layers of sheet rock). Saw it on the sportsman's channel. 9mm, .38, .40, .45, .223/5.56 and 00 Buck were the rounds tested.

If I have time, the 870 with whatever ammunition is riding in it.
If not, anything that beats harsh words.

I sleep walk and do weird stuff in my sleep. No way in hell I'm keeping a firearm anywhere near my bed that isn't under lock.

even NASTIER especially in a CQB type situation. Gotta think about over-penetration though, were not trying to take the neighbors out lol Sorry, If its a self defense situation im worried about the threat to my life and my families' life. Put rounds ON TARGET, and all will be gravy. Thats why you train with your weapon you know.... dumbest post in awhile.

training is a word used too much. going to the range and shooting paper isn't training. I grew up in the competitive shooting world and probably have more trigger time than most civilians on this forum and I can tell you I was NOT trained when my door was kicked in a 3am a few years back.
Anyone here who has been in that situation will know what I'm talking about. If not my suggestion is a gun that has no buttons or switches a good flashlight and doesn't ovepenitrate because your gonna miss.

I'm not gonna tell you what or where one may be located. I will tell you what the sticker I had on the front door at the old home said:
"There may be firearms in this house. Guess which one I'm holding."
I didn't worry about the enclosed back yard. Had 2 dogs - A Shepherd who would bark and bite and a border collie who wouldn't say a word. She knew who was supporsed to be in the yard and would let the Shepard get your attention then creep up behind you and take a hunk out of your behind.

If I had any guns at all my dark-of-the-night go-to would be an 870 12g with #4's, same as for coyotes. If it looks like a varmint and acts like a varmint....

This with some Estate Dove load. I haven't decided on ammo for HD. or this with Winchester PDX 410. I may put 3 410's and 2 Long Colts in it. Soon to be added is either a 9mm, or a .40 pistol. I want a short shotgun. I really want an AK, but will not pay the crazy price being asked for them now.
