went to the Lease this am in Fannin County with my buddy. I am 49 years old and lived my entire life in North Texas Hunting, Fishing, Trapping and Etc. In my entire life I have only seen one Otter and it was in South Louisiana dead on the side of the road at in In Laws. This morning I saw one in the Duck Slew. We sat and watched it for a good 3 or 4 minutes, before it realized we were there watching it. I am glad to see our wildlife coming back. Sorry, I did not have my camera with me, but at least I had someone with me.

they are pretty cool little creatures. often times they will watch you as much as you watch them. they are about as curious as an animal gets

I've seen some on some ponds and creeks southeast of Leonard, I wonder if they are related to yours.

My dog snores.

River otters are starting to make a come back. I've seen quite a few north of Dallas. Even had to see two that were hit by a car.

I had a pledge brother at Ole Miss we called Otter. Other than that I have never seen one, but I don't really live in Otter country

We see them on a 40 acre lake we have in Leonard. Cool watching them float on their back eating stuff.

Ditto here. Five years back we had a pair of Otters living in our SE corner dawg training ponds. When we had really heavy rains they would follow an overflow channel from our wetlands back to the source and then across 50 yards or so of lawn to the pond next to the house. We saw them regularly for three years until the drought hit in the summer of 2011. Haven't seen them since.

I trapped 4 on our place last yr. we had a beaver dam and the otterss moved in and ran off the beavers. Had no clue we had em till I had one in every snare I set. Caught a couple in turtle traps last yr too. I reported all to tpwd for a research study they were doing. Apparently there are a lot more than u realize. Very shy animals.

Watched a whole family group of Otters on a hunt in North Mississippi a few years back. One of the young ones surfaced a few feet away from me with a bream in his mouth. He crawled up on the beaver dam about 10 feet from me and ate breakfast. They are really fascinating to watch and "talk" to one another quite a bit.
