I'm a college student at McMurry University in Abilene and love hunting, but don't necessarily like the 4 hour drive home to hunt. However, being a college student, I don't have the money for a lease or guided hunt and as far as I know public hunting lands are nonexistent. Wondering if anyone knows of some friendly ranchers that have bird hunting potential? Thanks for your help.

All I can say is meet people in college. I can't believe the hunting opportunities I passed up just to party in college. There must be a ton of rancher families there at McMurry and ACU. I went to Tech and made fun of all the ropers but they sure had some good hunting on their ranches. Just talk hunting as much as possible to anyone. My good friend I work with and hunt with now could shoot a limit every single day out in Lubbock. Wish I knew him then...
