Ran across this one sorting some pictures. Picture is over 20 years old at my wifes grandmothers old homestead near Hugo Ok. That is oldest son. He became more of a fisherman than a hunter. The week of that picture I asked my wife to marry me in that very house after returning from a coon hunt with 4 of my hounds. And she still said yes! That same day in the tree behind the house was hanging the biggest buck I have ever taken. Taken with a primitive muzzleloader too. The weekend before that picture we ran back to Ft Worth for a finals rodeo where I finished with a state champion bullriding buckle from a small charity rodeo circuit I was riding in. Some nights that week were spent listening to stories and watching rodeo tapes with a local world champion calf roper and family friend. The Walker hound in the picture was the family favorite of any hound I ever owned. I picked her up when I went to look at puppies for sale from a newspaper ad in east texas. I found that hound living in an outdoor 4x4 plywood pen with a mud floor at what turned ot to be a country puppy mill type breeder. I told the man, that hound was not going to live another day that way and was coming home with me. Before it turned ugly, the man's wife intercepted and agreed with me. That poor hound got bit by a timber rattler the week of that picture, possibly later that same night. The local roads had us flooded in and she was so old anyway, we did not seek vet help. She had a rough night, but survived and was hunting again within days. Good times and what a great week that was. Amazing what can be behind a single picture.

John I usually don't read many stories on a pic but that right there was a good one.

Thanks for sharing.
