We just returned from our trip to Texas for our AWESOME hog hunt. We headed down to some private land near Como. This place had a lot of hog sign (rooted pastures and fresh tracks) We did manage to take two large hogs off the place and messed up some other opportunities. We did manage to see some down there. I will post some stories and pictures from there soon. but first here is my report back from Hunters Creek Ranch!
After 2 days of hunting the private land, we headed to Hunters Creek Ranch for a 1 day hog hunt. We drove up to Bobs place and met him around 8am. After a great breakfast made by his wife Doreen..We loaded up the dogs and headed out. Well lets just say that who ever said that Hunters Creek Ranch didnt have any hogs..was lying!!.We took 12 hogs in less than 2 hours. It was the first time I have ever hunted hogs with a knife and dogs. What an adrenaline rush! We had a blast. After killing 12 with dogs and a knife..we had to get the ones cleaned up before we headed out for our evening hunt. It took us a while but we got through them all..with Shannon's help! When we finished cleaning up..they had lunch ready for us. After a sandwich and some chips..we loaded up and headed back to the woods. We weren't really expecting to see any hogs since we were just in there with the dogs. Just after dark, I had a real nice boar come in. He came around some brush at 10yds. I slowly tried to get my gun up but some how the hog busted me and split with out giving me a shot. A couple other guys saw some hogs around dark or just after too!
We headed back to the ranch house, got cleaned up and Bob and Doreen had cooked up some great BBQ pig! I want to thank everyone that helped me out with all the information on this hunt. It was very beneficial! And thanks to Bob, Doreen and Shannon (and the other guys that showed up to help with the dog hunt!) We had a blast and have already booked again for next year!
I will try and figure out how to post some pictures!
Thanks again
