2 weeks and I'll be down by Sulphur Springs chasing some hogs. I just hope that the hogs cooperate and show up. We will be hunting about 1100 acres of private land. We asked the landowner to start throwing out some corn for us and he said he would. He sent some pictures of fresh rooting by one of the ponds (good sign) We are trying to get him to put out some trail cams and send us some pictures and also gives us a chance to see WHEN they are coming in.
I did buy a cheaper (Primos) scope light (red). It is supposed to light out to 100yds. I doubt it will go that far and plus .. I doubt I will be taking 100yd shots at night!

Now here is a couple questions for you guys..Since this is my first hunting free ranging hogs..my buddy wants to drive the 4 wheelers around the property a lot..wont this run the hogs out of the area? And IF there are hogs out on the property..wont they all just leave once we start taking shots at them? I keep telling him that we need to NOT plan on taking many hogs since once we do shoot..they will probably leave!

With 1100 acres..would you recomend driving the property with our red lights and looking for hogs then stalk up on them or just try tree stand hunting them. We have never seen this area. The land owner says the hogs are tearing up his pastures (mostly at night)

i wouldnt be driving around ,find a trail to the field and set up on it. or hunt close to feeders if there are any

The land owner says he has some feeders out for deer..supposedly he is putting corn out in it for hogs for us. He says there is fresh sign in fields. But who knows what time they are coming in.

Are there alot of hogs in the Sulphur Springs area?

yes there are. I live about 15 miles from Sulphur Springs. I have 1500 acres that I can hunt on. If you dont get as many as you want give me a shout I will put you in a deer stand. you will see hogs everyday no matter how much you shoot. I shot 3 one morning, came back that afternoon and had 15 more at the feeder. They are at the feeders everyday.
