Took the new boat for a spin. Better than I thought it would be. We got a huge amount of rain yesterday and the river in the back yard came out of it's banks for the first time in a long time. SO be it I am on vacation I thought what am I doing working on important stuff when I got flooded timber behind the house. Really, what was I thinking?? So threw it over the shoulder, grabbed a paddle and off I went. Very soothing slipping through the woods in a tiny little boat. The sun was coming up through the trees. I saw my woods differently. Then I heard a loud yelp pierce the silence. It was my little black bitch laborador trying to get out to go with me and got her nose just a little too close to the hot fence, cry

We got hammered with rain. Man yall are not going to believe this. This is the second time in a mointh this has happened. I was venting my rage against the marketeers when I heard a loud boom in the back yard. I thought it was a gunshot. This is the second time in a month this has happened to me. When I went to investigate I saw a huge oak tree fell. Fell right exactly where I was standing nest to the boat, some maybe 10 or 15 minutes earlier. I wouldn't be paranoid if the whole world wasn't out to get me. I will post a photo when it uploads on this slow internet service. Holy mother of duck Gods that was close. A tree stands for 50 100 maybe 200 years and minutes after I walk under it if falls.

Right where those limbs are I was laying down in the boat seeing the logistics of the boat and how to cover up ect. I mean right there.

Thank you! It was really pretty with the sun coming up and I was slipping through the woods with the little boat. I could have my wife pick me up in East Bernard and just have a 2 hour slip through the woods session. I might have to arrange that.

Wow Wal. A friend of mine and myself have a lease on that river. I might have to go check it out this weekend and see what it looks like!

I can tell you what you got if your north of highway 90 A. You got nothing duck wise. The river will fall before you can get here. South I don't know. Where is your place?

Your right up the road. So far as river ducks you got nothing. If you have goose fields you could be in like flynn.

We have 4 ponds that usually hold birds but they have been dry.We also have several fields on the property that will hold a little water. I will know if there are birds by this evening. I hear that the goose hunts have been poor on the prairie.

Glad the tree didn't get you.

On a different note, how did you like the new boat?

Thats what my buddy sent me this evening. He said there was at least 100 birds sitting on the pond. Maybe there will be a huntable number on it by saturday.
