Scouted Sunday afternoon for geese north of Lubbock and only saw a handful so we decided to hunt a corn field that usually has ducks in the morning. Got set up and 7 minutes before legal they start pouring in. Usually they come in either right at legal or a few minutes after, but not this time. I guess the full moon let them see earlier and because of that we dint get any. We had birds literally landing at our feet, and probably had 100 or so walking around at one time, but right before legal they spooked and flew about 80 yards away and stayed there. Sorry the video is bad, but it was pretty dark when they were flying. [video:youtube]U2YQzIClkKI[/video] But we got lucky and geese started flying around. Almost every group we had came straight in, and feet down. Thats pretty cool to see for some poor college students with a small decoy spread(the birds usually never work that easily for us)Had some specks fly over and of course we were chasing a crip across the field so we blew that chance , but hopefully they will swing by again this weekend. We ended up with 12 geese, just 3 shy of our 3 man limit.
-If I buy any more waterfowl hunting stuff this year I'll be eating cat food and crackers for dinner.

Keep calling if it makes you happy and you are having fun. Those ducks had something else on their mind anyway. You cant beat those overcast morning hunts. Looks like a good time

It still blows my mind that the birds are coming into a corn field in west Texas. Ive just always seen videos from up north, i guess the drought is taking its toll on the birds
