This hunt will not be from blinds...and it'd be best if you can shoot at least 200 yds accurately..We can use the rack on top of my old hunting Dodge which is setup for shooting, but these are free ranging and unfed deer, that have not been hunted and are wild...Don

Free ranging and wild or on a 150-acre high fence place. Which is it?

Both, he doesn't hunt them or feed them...They are fallow, however, and they tend to be a more tame specie than other deer....The guy he got the place from had about 100 Axis orig. but the fences washed out and graced Tarpley with a few more free ranging Axis...These are not pets...when they are shot at they will disappear in the brush...not stand and wonder what's happening and is the feeder going to go off again..Don

I guess I understand what you're trying to say. However, they can't be free range within a 150-acre high fence pasture. Free range means not captive.

No, I meant that A. They are not feeder pen deer (like most So Texas Whitetails) B. They exist only on natural feed not a corn or mineral substitute C. They have never been handled, penned, ect. D. They were born on the place not imported or transported in for sale...This is not a hunting ranch and does not hold canned hunts...This will be the only one for some time..Then we'll see about some new genetics and upgrades and wait another few years..It is not a get in the blind, deer comes to corn at same time every day, shoot and wait on the next..If you shoot, they will hit the brush and stay there..DD

Don,
You might consider getting a Photobucket account and upload the pics there. While you've probably already discovered it, the FAQ has the script to put in your post. When you reference where they are uploaded at Photobuck with that script, they'll post-up here just fine.

By the way...I do not guide as a rule anymore, however, my limited knowledge of Fallow has a little thing nagging me... I think that these bucks will soon drop their horns, so if you are interested...ctc me now...I'm just trying to help out one of my gate customers who has a place next to my shootin buddys ranch..Don
