Very very few around any more. I hear them when I am fishing around the north end of IDB state park every now and then.

I gave up hunting quail. I figure what few there are should just be let be. The whole situation just makes me sick. I would love to share with my kids one of the activities I so loved as a kid.
I do raise a few to eat from time to time...

Used to kill quite a few in the first couple years after the lake was created. But I have only take one single quail out there out of the last 6 years. And it was while hunting other small game. I can safely say there is no huntable population of quail on Ray Bob and never will be again. Corps land is just not managed in such a way for them to have any chance of long term success.

My great uncle owned a few hundred acres that is now underwater. We hunted there in the 60-70's and there were good birds then. It's a shame there are so few around now.

I think about 90% of us have the same story...I've got a few coveys on my property but I wouldn't call it a "huntable" population. Of course God only knows how many get poached out there...tresspassers burn me up.

Some of the Ft Worth distric corps lakes have now even taken quail off the legal game list.
