I've always been an "outdoor" person but was never into hunting as a teenager or adult (im 28 now), but been more into cars and horsepower. I went hunting a lot as a kid my with my dad and uncle but never got the chance to shoot or shoot at a deer. This past off season my buddy, "Texas Heat" here on the forum, started talking to me about hunting and I really got into it. I bought a few guns before season with a remington .243 being my deer rifle of choice. He outfitted me pretty good as I was ready for the season. Opening morning about 10-15 minutes after daylight I was watching 3 doe and had in my head I wanted one. I had my eye on the largest of the three as I was watching through my scope at around 180-200 yards out. I held off and after watching the doe for 5 minutes or so, a buck walks out, out of the corner of my eye in the scope. He walked out chest towards me and I wasnt comfortable with my shot. I was so excited and had buck fever so bad I had to start controlling my breathing. He walked behind a tree and stood there for about 30 seconds, which didnt help my buck fever at all. He slowly walked out as he had his eye on the does and boom I pulled the trigger. And this is what I found when I went to go look for him :] my first ever deer

Now I know what I've been doing wrong all this time! I need to ask Santa for football gloves, and get rid of my camo ones. I kid I kid.

Congrats on your first deer-----NICE I might add. Your gloves were the second thing I noticed and was all ready to ask if that was a new camo. elmer Then you had to splain. taz So much for me ribbing you. frown

It's the time spent in God's creation with family and friends making memories that counts.
