Shot this Freak deer in Llano County. Saw him coming in from quite a distance looked at him through the binos and noticed he was “odd looking”
He was in HOT pursuit of a doe running through a field...head down. I grabbed my gun and waited for him to get in shooting distance. I shouted at him. He faced me dead on. I had seconds to look at his rack and decided he needs to go. Dropped him in his tracks.

Considered a cull buck to me but others may argue…one of the coolest deer I every shot.

Doing euro myself. 99% complete….needs a little more bleach and repairing his nose… Going to mount it on a mesquite plaque

Looks good, and bad, and good all at the same time!

I agree that needed to go, and it is cool. Nice job on the euro.

Just out of curiosity, how old do you think he was?

Cool freak!! Thats the only thing that makes me sad about the Ar rules. I love freaky horned deer!! I wish this one would make it a about two or three more years, he would have a neat rack also. Dunno if he would even be a shooter!!

The reason I asked is years ago I hunted on the Llano/Gillespie Co line. I had a 1 1/2yr old freak that hung around. He had 13 points all coming from his base and all about 6" long. I didn't shoot him thinking he might be a monster in a year or two. Of course after a few weeks he disappeared but he looked to be a stag as well and may have just died. Always wondered if a deer like that would get big

I considered it a cull. Especially after we saw this guy running around on camera.
Related?
Who knows….
I really wanted this deer! Nice collar to him!

We never saw him this year.

Pretty sure that last pic is just from smacking his head (horn) while it was still growing. He will have a normal rack next year

I donno what some would consider a cull, but he would be in my book. I shot one in Mason Co back 18 years or so, he had 3 main beams with a hole in one of them.
