Didn't get the axis buck I was looking for but did get an axis doe. I had to hunt the same stand for 8 days straight before seeing her. Axis definately don't follow a pattern. Well worth the wait though.

The lesson I learned this year is not to get out of your stand too early. I had a baby axis show up 3 days in a row. Every single time was between 9:00 - 9:30. The doe I shot was around the same time 9:15 ish. One other day I got out of my stand early about 8:45 am to see what every one else shot that morning. Needless to say when driving by my feeder that morning back to camp there were three axis does under my feeder. It seems they all move late. Not sure if this is typical of axis.

i got an axis doe a few years ago at my uncles place and it was pregnant with 2 babies. they mate year round so you never know when they will be carrying babies. she was tasty though. hard to pass up when they are around but they get a pass from now on.
