Decided to hunt some public stuff today. I was running late to a spot I watched a group hunt yesterday. I saw them whack a bunch on birds, and thought I would beat them to their blind this morning. I was wrong. They must have gotten set up before LST because I was walking 10 minutes before shooting time. I decided to set up 100 yards south of their decoys. Figured it was plenty of cushion between us. I threw out my 11 pintail decoys and sat next to a log because I didn't have time to build a blind. Was just planning on using the one already made.

At 2 minutes before LST, I was ready to rock and roll. I had my 3-1/2" number 2's locked and loaded in the trusty shotgun. The birds didn't seem to work or land in my decoys, so I had to take action. I started to shoot at the ducks as they were working the other hunters spread. As the ducks would circle out around their decoys, it put them pretty close to me(60-70 yards) and I would unload on the flocks. After 34 bullets, I finally shot my 6 bird limit. For some reason the other group of hunters were cussing me when they left. Don't they understand I'm on public land. GOSH! They must be newbies!?

Here is today's limit. I got 4 cinnamon headed teal, and a drake and hen pintail. Can't wait til next time

This seems to be a common problem this weekend. Had nice hunt with a guy and his kids this morning. He set up so close that his duck fell in our spread...

Hey I wasn't cussing you, I thought you did a great job. We couldn't shoot at all because we drank too many cold ones right before LST. (It gets pretty cold waiting on LST when you get out there an hour early)

I'm just glad someone got those pintails, we had them pass over us at least 57 times.

Cinnamon headed teal? Drake & hen pintail? I sure hope you got your teal stamps! And by the way you need to go back to hunting and bird identification school.

Dang I wasn't able to get any bites while doing a little trolling. I was hoping someone that didn't know my name would jump all over the the original post. Lol. I was having some duck withdrawals as I haven't been all year. I was sitting in the deer stand, listing and watching the geese on our pond while posting the first message lol.

The only duck outtings I'm getting right now, are the ones I'm out scouting for friends. I'm putting them on the birds while I go and sit in the deer stand for a 17 point.

Those 4 GWT, sprig and widgeon in the photo were from a solo hunt before work last year. I'll hopefully start posting photos of green from this year. I'm straight covered up with them.
