Hunting with my brother this morning and even though he has already taken a buck and I haven't this year he said I get first shot well guess who shows up this morning the big 10 and does he let me shoot? No we were looking at him though our Scopes and he shoots scars the crap out of me and it gets better he's using a rifle that a shot this far would be questionable in the first place a 3030 at 280yrds and I could have laid him down but he doesn't just miss once but twice but hey what are big brothers for

Oh and I have a 270 and have laid deer down way past that

30-30 great brush gun or up to 75 yards lol

Wow yall make a 30-30 look bad. 200 yards and your good if you can shoot. 280 can be done. When the bullet got to the 280 yard mark the velocity would be around 1443 fps and 694 ft-lbs you better be a good shot or you should not try it.

I highly doubt he tried because he thought he was a great shot. More on the lines of , no way am I going to let my little brother kill that buck. Years ago I shot at a deer close to 300 yards because I was young and stupid. The bullet probaly hit close to 10 yards short of the deer. Shot a second time. That time I aimed higher. Still shot way low. The longest shot I made with that 30-30 was 140 yards. That was a pretty good shot with open sights.

Or unless you can find a few 30-30 accelerators laying around. That will reach 280.

What county were you hunting in? Is it brushy enough for a 30-30?

We're hunting in Navarro most of the property is bushy but we have a green field on it next door we have permission to hunt if we see it out of our stand the neighbor said and that's where he was I wish I had a camera

So brother or not I'm done hunting with this chump the rest of the year so this evening another buck steps out in the field while were pulling up and I'm looking at him though the truck window with my gun his to far I think even with my 270 and I'm comfortable with my gun up to 350 at the most the farthest shot I have taken was 335 well anyways he's looking at the deer on top of the cab with his gun after missing the one this morning with the 3030 he has his 3006 now he shoots at the deer missing again and scares the hell out of me shooting over the cab my way my ears still hurt I just told him he was stupid.....and I went to my stand left and didn't say another word I was so close to doing something else but wait till I tell dad about this lol

We all have a family member like that. I've got an idiot brother too. Last year I took him to my lease to let him kill a cull and some does. We sat in the stand together and brought along my dad's old 7mm Mag in dad's honor (he died in '97).

It was fairly early and several does showed so I told my brother to pick out a big mature one and knock her down. Well he waits until two are side by side and fires. Both does hit the ground but the one in the rear is laying on her side goin in circles. My brother flies out of the tower blind and down the sendero with a Bowie knife in hand. Like some kind of barbarian he pounces on the mortally wounded by not yet expired doe and commences to stabbing her repeatedly through the ribs with the Bowie knife until she stops moving.

I was stunned. I've never even heard of something like that before. He maybe my brother but he's still a booger eating idiot.
